Welcome

Dear Intermountain Conference Participant,

We are excited for this year's Intermountain Conference on Gifted Education. The conference will be held this year on June 13 and 14 at the Edith Bowen Laboratory School on the Utah State University campus. The conference will begin each day at 8:30 a.m. but will go until 4:00 p.m. While this will likely leave you tired at the end of a long day, we feel the two-day format will take less time out of your summer and increase the likelihood that you'll stay with us for the full conference. We'll try to have snacks available throughout the day, plus you'll notice that lunch is now included.

This year's theme is "Matching Content and Instruction: Teaching in the Content Areas." Our speaker is Dr. Sandra Kaplan from the University of Southern California. Dr. Kaplan is known internationally for her focus on depth and complexity in curriculum and has been a popular speaker in Utah on several past occasions. She is a former president of the National Association for Gifted Children and is always in high demand at the summer Confratutes at University of Connecticut.  The conference will again feature on opportunity to attend two strands across the two days, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Pre-registration for the strands is not required.

As always we will have excellent break-out sessions presented by local educators. If you have a great idea to share, you're invited to submit a proposal, which may be done electronically at this website.

Information on registration is also available here. We look forward to receiving your registration and meeting with you this summer.

Sincerely,

Scott L. Hunsaker
Conference Director
